...themed SUBEX Diving Center will arrange in co-operation with the German VDST marine biology scientist Dr. Ralph O. Schill and his team from 06th to 13th of December 2007 a marine biological week in the area of MÖVENPICK Hotel Sirena Beach in El Quseir.

The seminar is adressed to all interested sports diver with diving licence (min. OWD) and dive experience especially in tropical marine habitats which would like to know and learn more about the diversity of corall reefs fishes, selected fish families and species as well their habitats and characteristics in the Red Sea. It expects you a mixed program-cocktail of exited speeches, zoological slots and real bio-dives in the El Quadim Bay, which provides ideal conditions for marine biological explorations. El Quseir feature not only about 153 diverse coral reef species and 91% of the northern Red Sea stone corals but rather has a historical importance. In the 19th century the German physician and natural scientist Carl Benjamin Klunziger investigated the coral reefs of the region and laid the foundation for the investigation of the “impact of the cohabitation of creatures on the coral reef.”

In a comfortable atmosphere and without the daily hectic pace, SUBEX and the VDST promises you one holiday week of knowledge with sufficient dives in any case. The seminar will be held in german language.

In the range of United Nations launched program’s TOURISM ENRICHES (UNWTO) was on 27th of September worldwide the „World Tourism Day 2006“ celebrated.

These important event within the tourism business gave reason that the Prime Minister of Egpyt, H.E. Dr. Ahmed Nazif, has invited chosen companies and personalities, the Crème de la Crème of tourism.

On the occasion of these event which took place on 27th of September 2006 in Cairo, 45 of same business were honourable awarded by his Excellence the Minister of Tourism Egypt, Zoheir Garranah, for a remarkable effort in promoting tourism to Egypt. Guest-Interview with Prof.Dr.Dr. Dieter Seiler

A pleasant, if unusual picture presented itself on the first of April when the SUBEX staff came to work in their white, brand new SUBEX air28 t-shirts. Soon the centre was bustling with activity: air 28 stickers were attached to tanks filled with the new mixture and prepared to be transportet onto the jetty. Then, Prof. Dr. Dr. Dieter Seiler arrived at the centre with the precision of a Swiss clockwork. It’s his 24th visit to El Quseir and since he has already done 570 dives at our house reef, he honoured us by being our first guest to go diving with the new product on that beautiful morning. At shortly past eight, most of the SUBEX crew was already gathered on the jetty in order to hand the first tank of SUBEX air28 over to Dieter. This well equipped and to the chants of the Egyptian staff, Dieter and Hansi plunged into the deep blue at ten past eight.

Given that every new product also depends on the feedback of the consumer, we gather the opinions of our guests over the first few days. During the same period, we also seek for “my slogan for SUBEX air28”, a competition for our guests in which we will award a six dives package to the three best slogans. These will also be used for our advertisement.

A more detailed interview has been held with Prof. Dr. Dieter Seiler. As a medical practitioner and an enthusiastic diver, he was able to give us an interesting feedback after his first dive with SUBEX air28:

Thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions. Dieter. You just did your first dive with SUBEX air28. What do you think of offering a mixture of 28% oxygen and 72% nitrogen as a standard?

In my view, it’s an excellent idea! 28 percent of oxygen allow the more conservative diver to plunge into depths of up to 40 meters with greater safety without causing any problems. E.g. I prefer to do extended dives and those can be done with SUBEX air28 without difficulties. And certainly it is also advantageous to those divers who wish to do several dives per day.

Do you think it is sensible to dive with 28 percent of oxygen, but to keep using the diving computer with a standard setting of 21%?

Absolutely! With the settings adjusted to 21% oxygen, the safety factor is much higher and the risk of decompression is reduced at the same time.

In how far can the average diver benefit of using air28?

Divers who come here on holidays only have a limited number of days on which they can dive. With SUBEX air28, the guests can use their holidays to the fullest, for they can do several dives per day.

Which disadvantages do our guests have by using air 28?

I don’t see any disadvantages. Quite to the contrary, since the maximum diving depth is limited to 40 meters, the mixture with 28 percent of oxygen represents an additional motivating factor to heed to the depth limitations.

Do you think it likely that other diving centres will offer a mixture of 28% of oxygen /72% of nitrogen as a standard in the future?

I like the idea very much.
